Advisory Core Committee Meeting of Maraka Humanitarian Observatory
On December 5, 2024, the Department of Political Science at the University of Peshawar hosted the Advisory Core Committee meeting for the Maraka Humanitarian Observatory (MHO). The event saw the active participation of various stakeholders, including academics, NGO representatives, legal experts, and government officials.
The meeting focused on discussing critical issues and the need for prioritization within the Observatory’s scope. Stakeholders collectively agreed on framing Terms of Reference (TORs) to guide MHO’s future activities. The committee also identified several key themes pertaining to Afghan women refugees, including education, health, repatriation, deportation, harassment, and human governance.
A significant portion of the discussion was dedicated to the importance of evidence-based policymaking, emphasizing the need for informed and sustainable strategies to address the challenges faced by Afghan women refugees. The collaborative efforts and diverse perspectives contributed to a comprehensive dialogue, setting the stage for effective and impactful interventions by MHO.
