University of Peshawar and Islamabad based Crossroads Advisory have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on October 24, 2024 to enhance academic cooperation in humanitarian policy input and to establish a Maraka Humanitarian Observatory under the auspices of Department of Political Science’s Migration Research Cell (MRC) in a week time.
The Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Qazi along with Chairperson Prof. Dr. Shahida Aman, and Director Crossroads Dr. Saba Gul Khattak signed the agreement.
The worthy Vice Chancellor on this occasion, termed the agreement as a milestone for the department of Political Science with the sheer and the able guidance of Prof. Dr. Shahida Aman, who steered the department on academic and research front. The Vice Chancellor stressed that faculty along with the students would be able to gather vital data on refugees from cross-border and displaced people from the different regions of the country for desired institutional and advocacy support.
The Director Cross Roads Advisory, Dr. Saba Gul Khattak termed the observatory one of its unique kind of humanitarian observatory to work along Migration Research Cell to gather and support data for International, national and regional organizations working for vulnerable sections of refugees and displaced communities. She pointed out that under the agreement a digital archive would be created for youth to learn touching and memorable lessons from refugees and Displacement crisis.
Earlier, presenting the salient features of agreement Director Planning and Development Prof. Dr. Bushra Khan term the observatory first of its kind in the South Asian region and termed it beneficial for advocacy and humanitarian endeavors.
During the ceremony, Dr. Ayub Jan and Dr. Noreen Naseer were also present on the occasion.
